A very traditional pattern in black, dark pink, and wine purple. This quilt is considered to be an antique. The entire piece in hand-quilted with the traditional medallion center which features the Star of Bethlehem. The backing is a solid black. The fabric in this quilt was made from wool and polyester.
Full/Double/Queen (96″ W x 98″ L)
A full/double mattress is 54″ wide and 75″ long, therefore this quilt would have an 18″ drop on each side.
A queen mattress is 60″ wide and 80″ long, therefore this quilt would have a 20″ drop on each side.
All quilts are long enough to allow for a significant drop at the foot of the bed as well as a nice pillow tuck so there is no need for shams.
About This Pattern:
The Center Diamond is one of the oldest and most traditional quilts specific to the Amish community of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The central diamond symbolizes farm fields, and nature in general, which is a gift from God that allows us to grow and prosper.
Made by Amish quilter, Emma
“I am 80 years old. My grandfather gave me the wine-colored material when I was only 6 years old, to make a dress, because I was named after my grandmother Emma. The fabric was never used because it was not washable. For 60 years, it was in my cedar chest until I decided to make a quilt with it. The other materials were from my mother’s old dresses. The quilt was made in 2010.” – Emma (July 29, 2022)
