About This Pattern:
Log Cabin quilts date back to when Abraham Lincoln was running for office. Because women could not vote, they made log cabin quilts to show their support for him as he lived in a log cabin. During the era of the Underground Railroad, a log cabin quilt hanging in the window of a Northern home indicated a safe house.
The Grandmother’s Fan originated in the early 1800’s and was inspired by Japanese fan motifs.
