Description
The traditional Log Cabin pattern combined with rows of Grandmother’s Fans in various scrap fabrics with a dark green, scalloped border. The diamond shapes are made by using contrasting light and dark fabrics in half of the log cabin square. The backing features a green floral print on a white background.
Measurements:
Queen (98″ W x 112″ L)
A queen mattress is 60″ wide and 80″ long, therefore this quilt would have a 19″ drop on each side.
All quilts are long enough to allow for a significant drop at the foot of the bed as well as a nice pillow tuck so there is no need for shams.
About This Pattern:
Log Cabin quilts date back to when Abraham Lincoln was running for office. Because women could not vote, they made log cabin quilts to show their support for him as he lived in a log cabin. During the era of the Underground Railroad, a log cabin quilt hanging in the window of a Northern home indicated a safe house.
The fans incorporated into this pattern are known as Grandmother’s Fans for their shape.
