The beautiful quilt features the Snake River Log Cabin pattern in a deep brick Red, shimmery grey and a lighter grey also black. The diamond shapes are made by using contrasting light and dark fabrics in half of the log cabin square. The border is a lovely printed black fabric. The backing is a dreamy grey with individual leaf pattern
King (116″ W x 117″ L)
A king mattress is 76″ wide and 80″ long, therefore this quilt would have a 20″ drop on each side.
All quilts are long enough to allow for a significant drop at the foot of the bed as well as a nice pillow tuck so there is no need for shams.
About This Pattern:
The Snake River pattern is a variation on the classic Log Cabin block, characterized by an off center arrangement of light at dark strips of fabric. Known for its a distinctive asymmetric layout and a river or diagonal strip running thru it.
Log Cabin quilts date back to when Abraham Lincoln was running for office. Because women could not vote, they made log cabin quilts to show their support for him as he lived in a log cabin. During the era of the Underground Railroad, a log cabin quilt hanging in the window of a Northern home indicated a safe house.
