- There are 3 different patterns that make this quilt up which consist of the The broken star, the lone star and the star of beauty. The star of beauty is in original design by a mennonite quilter. The broken star pattern is known for the look of the outer star breaking up and outwards from the central lone star. The lone star quilt pattern is a classic design featuring a symmetrical five-pointed star formed using light and dark contrasted fabrics. It is also named as a reference to the Lone Star state of Texas
