Description
A traditional Log Cabin pattern arranged in a diamond shape with small scale printed fabric in black, red, and cream. Contrasting light and dark fabrics create the diamond shapes, symbolizing life’s joys and sorrows. The joys are represented by light fabric, and the sorrows by dark fabric, blending together to form the log cabin square. All fabrics, from black to cream to shades of red, feature small designs like swirls, lines, or dots. The backing is shades of dark teal in a sponged print. Hand-stitched quilting enhances the charm of this quilt on the main body and borders on the edge.
Made By:
- Amish couple, Linda and Elam
About this Pattern:
- The Log Cabin quilt pattern has a rich history that dates back to Abraham Lincoln’s presidential campaign. Women, who couldn’t vote at the time, used this pattern to show their support for Lincoln. During the days of the Underground Railroad, a Log Cabin quilt hanging in the window of a Northern home proudly signaled a safe house for escaping slaves.
